This is a fairly secluded beach and has great views of the Coronado Islands. It is used by the marines for training. Many people bike down the Silver Strand but watch for fast moving traffic.
This campground is separated from the ocean by a huge sand berm so you only hear traffic noise and don't hear the ocean. Camp hosts are a bit ridiculous - - first campground I have ever stayed at that won't let you check in even one minute early. We did enjoy walking on the beach at low tide, and there is a great cycling trail nearby. Probably won't go back...
We have camped here twice a year for the past 10 years. Now with the sand berm blocking the view half the year and increased prices , this parking lot campground is not the good bargain it once was.
Nice, quiet, clean beach. Close to the city and the border. Gorgeous for a family day, an outing with friends, or a date. The one drawback is that it's relatively removed from the nearest metropolitan zone, so be sure to get all your needs before venturing into the area.
Clean well managed state park campground and day use area. Clean beaches and public restrooms. No dogs allowed on beach but there is a dog beach approx. 8 miles north. If you like busy beaches this is not the place for you. This is a relaxing area where there are shells to be found along with visits from the resident seagulls.
